Nigerian Mystic Visa Temple, 2022
Jacquard woven Tapestry
260 x 169 cm / 102.4 x 66.5 in
Nigerian Mystic Visa Temple offers a satirical take on the exercise of migration from the global south to the North. The tapestry is composed of natural and synthetic fibers and was woven in collaboration with the TextielLab, Tilburg. This artwork is from the project Lagos Drawings where the language of advertising, graphic design and advertising present in the city of Lagos, Nigeria was used to comment on contemporary realities in the city.
The tapestry can be hung by passing a rod through loops at the top and bottom.
Growing up in Lagos, Nigeria, graphic design and textiles presented through print and electronic media, played a significant role in the formation of my visual identity.
