«This costume was initially designed for a performance depicting the snake from Adam and Eve; I find the story so fascinating; it's an amazing folkloric story trying to explain why we humans are on earth. (...) The woman in the picture, is actually my mother, enhancing the narrative of passed-on-guilt through christian believes. To me this work is a feminist statement, as the biblical narrative has shamed our women's body, blames women for all that is wrong in the world, and made us the weakest link because we were just made to entertain Adam, coming from his rib, taking away all our autonomy in reasons to excite. Woman came, we saw and then we fucked up. It's also interesting that the snake has so many different symbolic meanings, a great example is Ourebouros, the snake that eats his own tail, a symbol for regeneration, a very positive outtake on the symbol of snakes. (...) The costume itself is patched up from 1000 hand cut leather pieces, that are all attached by hand. The process of making this costume took a long time and it's a very meditative process. I research a lot, draw and read upon the subjects before I start.» Mette Sterre

I believe I make a magic soup, as I work intuitively.
