Selection #6 Cahiers d'Artistes
Selection #6 features eight Swiss artists who realized an artist book within the series Cahiers d’Artistes by Pro Helvetia in 2023: Maria Guta, Eva Zornio, Patricia Bucher, Thomas Julier, Gabriel Stöckli, Rhona Mühlebach, David Knuckey and Martin Chramosta.
For the first time in 2023, the Cahiers d'Artistes were not pure monographs, but artist books designed and produced by graphic designers Samuel Bänziger, Rosario Florio, and Larissa Kasper (Jungle Books) in close collaboration with the artists.
TheArtists features the eight Cahiers d'Artistes artists and their artistic practice online as well as in individual formats such as screenings, performances, talks and readings in the Programme Cahiers d'Artistes (October until December 2023).
About the Cahiers d'Artistes
With the Cahiers d'Artistes, Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia enables artists from Switzerland to have their first publication and offers art professionals and the interested public a window to current trends in the Swiss art scene.
Every two years, on the recommendation of a jury, Pro Helvetia selects eight artists from various artistic disciplines who have applied in response to a public call for entries. On the recommendation of this year's jury (Valérie Knoll, curator, former director of Kunsthalle Bern; Zilla Leutenegger, artist, Zurich; Andrea Marioni, artist, Biel; Sylvain Menétrey, curator, Geneva), Pro Helvetia selected eight artists from over 100 applications for the 2023 edition of Cahiers d'Artistes. The selection criteria included regular exhibitions in all language regions of Switzerland and a body of work that represents an independent artistic practice.
The Swiss Arts Council launched the Cahiers d’Artistes in 1984. Taken as a whole, the Cahiers offer an extensive view of Swiss arts production over the past 35 years. More about the Cahiers d'Artistes on Pro Helvetia's website.
