The work was made as part of the moving image project Excitement is not Part of my Feeling Repertoire (2021) in which a Neanderthal, living in the now, is searching desperately for a cave in the hope of finding some rest and connecting with her fellow Neanderthals.
The work is part of a series of three drawings.
I approach serious subjects through intentionally serious playfulness as a way to create a direct, emotional contact with its subject matter.
