The artwork Recess is a wall sculpture consisting of four objects measuring 18 x 17 x 7 cm (red), 43 x 28 x 13 cm (blue), 21 x 20 x 13 cm (green) and 50 x 36 x 13 cm (pink). They are mounted on the wall with nails.
"The work recreates a setting in which playtime turns to trauma and resembles the silent echo of mistreated children, questioning how proximity and closeness can make us feel safe or unsafe. I covered something as lovable as teddy bears with plaster to recreate a sense of destruction, then painting it with soft colors to contrast. Describing the aftermath of abuse, individuals tend to verbally deny what happened to them, but it will show in their body language."
